||art with a sense of style
The relationship between art and fashion has always been a symbiotic one. Noted artist Karen Andrews has forged a new bond between the two with her breathtaking work.
After a dynamic career as a fashion illustrator, Karen felt drawn to learn everything she could about traditional printmaking. Her ensuing work with hand-pulled prints led her to craft beautiful lithographs, etchings and monotypes. Having a background as a fashion illustrator, it seemed natural for her to again explore current standards of beauty and fashion. So she began to experiment with computers and giclees. She explains, "I found that the computer graphic programs were already the same process as printmaking in that the images are created by layering. The
computer offered the same look but control over color not found in traditional printmaking."
The giclee process allows Karen to offer her images in a number of color combinations.
All utilize archival pigmented inks and 100% cotton mold-made paper; guaranteed to last well over 200 years.
Karen's works of art can be found adorning the walls of private collectors, clothing boutiques, corporations and of course, noted galleries across the country.
